#DailyUi Challenges

Design, Rinse, Repeat.

A collection of small projects, inspired by DailyUi challenges, created to practice and hone my design skills.

MY ROLE

UX Designer (Solo Projects)

#DailyUi Challenges

This series of projects comes from a desire to consistently practice my design skills, and also test out new techniques and play around with ideas. I joined a community on LinkedIn for Figma users and I came across multiple people posting their own projects that they created based on the prompts from DailyUI. This seemed like a great way to stay familiar with Figma's software and the design process while also having total creative freedom.

Sign-Up Page

Prompt: Create a sign up page, modal, form, or app screen related to signing up for something. It could be for a volunteer event, contest registration, a giveaway, or anything you can image.

Tools Used: Figma & Google

Prior to receiving this prompt I had been re-watching Cupcake Wars. Baking is one of my favorite hobbies and I always enjoy a good baking competition show. So, for this project I decided to do a sign up page for a fictional small-town cupcake competition. For the color scheme I stuck to a mostly monotone color palette (pink, pink, and more pink) because I just so happened to be seeing the Barbie movie this day and I was inspired by it's aesthetic.

Credit Card Checkout

Prompt: Design a credit card checkout form or page. Don't forget the important elements such as the numbers, dates, security numbers, etc.

Tools Used: Figma & Google

For this project I decided to do a simplistic checkout page. I created this to be a small snapshot of one of the steps in the checkout process, so that it was solely focused on the credit card information page. I designed this for a mobile format because I had recently orderer something from amazon on my phone and it inspired me. My choice of color palette also ties in with the simplistic theme. I chose teal because of it's soothing blue undertone and because of the correlation between the green undertone and the psychological association of green with money. This helps put the user at ease when spending money. For my secondary color I chose orange to provide a brighter pop of color to embolden the user to be spontaneous and fun - thus encouraging them to splurge and buy more. This was also my first time working with a credit card design and I used a Figma template to achieve the example card look.
